Yikes. America at 10MPH is the journey of a solo rider on a Segway human transporter from Seattle, WA to Boston, MA traveling at the Segway’s top speed of 10MPH. Should be fun to follow along as they post video accounts on the project’s website. A documentary is to follow.

Just a fun link to some early election humor. A very well-executed piece, indeed.

A recent Wired News article really captured some of my feelings as a new car owner. It details the increasing frequency of computer glitches or malfunctions on today’s high-tech automobiles. With nearly every part of your driving experience being computer-controlled, what happens when there is a glitch? Something tells me this is a more severe problem than a BSOD.
I have had similar concerns in my new car. Not that anything has happened, but there is something very solid and reassuring about mechanical control versus electronic controls. With my old Toyota when something went wrong it was easily fixed on the side of the road with a can of spray lubricant to the carburetor float. In my new car, I’d probably just be stranded. I guess its the feeling of reliance that is tough to get used to.

I have finally brought home my new baby. After months of shopping, test drives, and research I have taken delivery of a 2004 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T. It is Silverstone Grey with a black interior.
What can I say? The car is everything I had hoped and more. It’s beautiful, fast and exceedingly fun to drive. It has more features and amenities than any one car (or driver) deserves and has completely transformed my commute. I can’t say enough about how much I love this car.
Also, a special thank you to the the fine folks at Cable Volkswagen who run a truly “class” operation. By far this was the most enjoyable car buying experience I could have ever expected. Special thanks to Michael and John – say “Hi” to them for me if you are ever in the store.
I took a quick round of photos that really don’t do the car justice. Take a look at them here.(Special thanks to the amazing Andrew Berg for the use of his fantastic photo browser.)

While I love living in the Oklahoma City area for many reasons, there are just some things a city of this size cannot provide. Such is the feeling I get when I look at the breathtaking new library in Seattle.

This is probably one of the nicest Flash websites I have seen. In my opinion, the hallmark of any Flash site is a site that doesn’t screen “I’m Flash!”. The animation is tight and very atypical of most Flash in general. And it does a nice job a creating the illusion of motion elements in normal hypertext. Excellent!
